Amazing Race:

12- 16 year old age group. 

Date: Saturday 20th January

Time: 10 am- 5 pm

Ages 12 +

Please be at Roskill Youth Zone no later that 9.45 am

Water, Light refreshments and lunch provided.

Lead by local bike and community group Global Lighthouse, teams of two people race around the tracks of Puketapapa in competition with other teams. Contestants strive to arrive first at "Pit Stops" at the end of each leg of the race to win prizes and to avoid coming in last.

Challenges will relate in some manner to the area and bike tracks. Teams are progressively eliminated until three are left; at that point, the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded the grand prize.

The Race will start at RYZ and take in bike tracks heading South and West on the Cycleways taking in sights such as the Waterview tunnel, Onehunga lagoon BMX track and Oakley Creeks waterfall and freshwater swimming hole.

Ride n Dive

Date: Wednesday January 17th

Time: 4-7pm

Duration 2-3 hours

Capacity : 25 participants

Open to all ages 12 and above or with accompanying adult.

Bring: Togs/towel and a snack

Leaving from Roskill Youth Zone our Bike Leaders from Global Lighthouse will first head South to Mangere Bridge. 

Passing through  the Onehunga side, 4km of concrete path hugs the Upper Manukau Harbour and passes alongside the Waikaraka cemetery. 

 Once over the bridge, the route goes through the Kiwi Esplanade Reserve where the path continues around the shoreline.

Taking in the Onehunga Bay Lagoon and onto

Ambury Farm Park, a perfect place for a picnic and an opportunity for the kids to see the farm animals. 

On our way back depending on Weather we will have acess to Mt Rokill Grammars school pool for a dive n dip.

Family Ride:

Date: Waitangi Day - Tuesday 6th February

Capacity: 25 participants

Duration 2-2.5 hours

A chance to explore the areas new Greenway tracks for Ma, Pa & the kids.

Water and Light refreshments provided. Pack a sandwhich.

Starting at RYZ the ride will follow the Waikaraka Cycleway Onehunga to Mangere Bridge and Ambury Farm Park

The ride includes paths on both sides of the Manukau Harbour connected by the old Mangere Bridge. A great track for families and adults alike. It’s completely flat (almost), has interesting stops along the way and stunning views.

Bikes can be provided..

Riders under 18 will require a guardian present.

We will be riding approximately 8km at a leisurely pace.

Sunset Ride

PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS!

Length of ride: Approx 2 hours

Light refreshments provided

A beginners ride for those wanting to get fit but don't have acess to a bike or are a little un confident.

Ride will begin with a leisurely spin around the grounds of Wesley and then take to the bike paths for a leisurely ride looking to take in the sites 

Looking to follow the Waterview shared path

Taking in sights such as:

Architecturally designed bridges: Te Piringa (Alford Street) bridge, Soljak bridge.

Unitec campus.

Oakley Creek - with a waterfall and a freshwater swimming hole.

Playground at Harbutt Reserve.

Rainbow path on the Northwestern Cycleway.

Waterview playground, skatepark and pump track.

Heels On Wheels

Women's only ride

Date: Wednesday January 24th

Time: 4pm-7pm

Water and a light snack will be provided

Length of ride : Approx 2 hours

This ride will be led by women for women.

A leisurely pace will be set by the girls from Global Lighthouse and the Bike Kitchen

The ride will head West taking in sights such as:

Heritage Ride

Date: Tuesday January 9th

Time: 9am -11.30 am

Capacity: 20 people

Bikes provided

Length of ride: Approx 2 hours

This ride will be focussed on a ride for Adults in the Puketapapa area

The posty bikes will provide a comfortable safe option for riders.

The ride will take on a more "heritage style" route.

Local cycling advocate of Puketāpapa's Greenways, Richard Barter, will take us on an interesting bicycle ride around the Mt Roskill area.

The ride will focus on local transport heritage.

The ride will not include on-road riding.

We will be riding approximately 8km at a leisurely pace.

Riders encouraged to bring comfortable clothing, closed shoes, a snack and water.
